How to Lace Shoes?

How to Lace Shoes?

Who would have thought there were so many different methods to tie your shoelaces? Criss-cross, straight-lace, heel-lock, lattice... and the list goes on! Your shoelaces do more than just hold your shoes on, they can change how your shoes fit and how they look. PrelovedTreasures.pk is here to show you different cool ways to lace your shoes so you can look great whether you’re on the basketball court or in the boardroom.

"Every step matters – make sure your laces do too."

1. Criss-Cross Method

"Master the criss-cross method for a classic, secure fit."
Shoe Lace Criss-Cross Method
  • Place your shoe in front of you with the toe pointing away.
  • Start at the front two holes and insert each end of the shoelace from the inside out. Make sure both sides of the lace are equal.
  • Working diagonally, insert the right end of the lace into the next left hole from the top. For a neater look, you can insert the lace from the outside in.
  • Insert the left end of the lace into the next right hole.
  • Keep criss-crossing the laces until you reach the ends.
  • Tie a bow.

2. Straight-Lace Method

"Straight-lace your way to a sleek, modern look."

Straight-Lace Method
  • Place one end of the shoelace through the top right hole (near the toe) and the other end through the bottom left hole (near the beginning of the shoe). The left end should be short just enough to tie at the end.
  • Take the right end and insert it straight across into the opposite hole.
  • Pull it out from the bottom and insert it (from the bottom again) into the next hole up.
  • Keep moving the lace horizontally across the holes until you reach the top.
  • Tie the two ends in a bow.

3. Heel-locking Method

"Say goodbye to slipping heels with the heel-locking method."

Shoe Heel-locking Method

If your heels slip in your shoes, this method can help.

  • Lace your shoes in a criss-cross pattern, stopping before the last hole.
  • Take each lace and put it into the hole on the same side to create a loop.
  • Insert the left lace through the loop on the right side.
  • Repeat with the right lace through the loop on the left side.
  • Tie your shoes as usual and enjoy slip-free heels!

4. Alternative Straight-Lace Method

This method works for shoes with five pairs of shoelace holes.

Alternative Straight-Lace Method
  • Place one end of the shoelace through the first hole on the inside (left hole nearest the heel on a right shoe) and pull it through, leaving about 6 inches (15.2 cm) of lace outside.
  • Pass it under and up through the second outer hole.
  • Feed it directly down and through the second hole from the inside.
  • Thread it underneath and pull it up through the fifth hole from the inside.
  • Pass it straight over and down through the fifth outer hole.
  • Slide it under and up through the fourth hole on the outside.
  • Take it straight across and down through the fourth hole on the inside.
  • Thread it underneath and bring it up through the third inside hole.
  • Pass it straight over and down through the third outer hole.
  • Pass it under and up through the first outer hole.
  • If one side has more lace than the other, fold the extra length of the longer lace in half, match it with the end of the shorter lace and reverse the procedure to feed the lace back to even out both laces.
  • Tie the two ends you have left into a bow.

5. Lattice Method

"Step up your shoe game with the intricate lattice lacing."

Lattice Method Shoelaces
  • Run the lace straight across the bottom and out through both bottom eyelets.
  • Cross the ends over each other, run them diagonally upwards on the outside and feed them through the third set of eyelets up (skip two sets of eyelets).
  • Run both ends straight up the inside and out through the next set of eyelets.
  • Cross the ends over each other, run them diagonally downwards on the outside and feed them through the third set of eyelets down (skip two sets of eyelets).
  • Run both ends straight up the inside and out through the next set of eyelets.
  • Cross the ends over each other, run them diagonally upwards on the outside and feed them under the sides to emerge through the top set of eyelets (skip two sets of eyelets).

6. Tying the Bow

"Tying the perfect bow is the final touch to your shoe masterpiece."

Lace Tying Bow
  • Hold both ends of the lace straight. Cross the right end over the left then bring the left end over the right and through the loop. Pull both ends tight.
  • Make a loop with the right lace, holding it with your finger.
  • Bring the left lace over the right lace then under it in a circular motion.
  • Pull the left lace through the small loop.
  • Pull both ends tight.
  • Your shoes are now tied!
